If you're already making 1 million, another million really doesn't matter.
It really doesn't! What matters more are do you like the job, the work conditions, the opportunities available to you, the community you live, etc.
I could see Pope moving on if he felt he could accomplish professional goals better at another school. But does he really need another million a year? Really? I just don't think that matters as much as other factors.
