Rim fire ammo is so cheap that they do misfire more often. However, some brands
like CCI, are pretty reliable. If you put it in a revolver instead of a semi-auto, it is typically even more reliable. All that being said, just put those electronic hunting headphones next to your locked up gun. They amplify sound, but block the loud report when you shoot, so you get the best of both worlds. 22’s are fun to plink with, but not the preferred round for defense. If you are going to use them, you should practice head shots, which is a smaller target area then what you get with a larger caliber. I prefer the .38 special because even my kids can shoot that round (under supervision of course), it has plenty of knock down power, and it doesn’t over penetrate. Pretty cheap to reload too. For outdoors, I switch to 357.
