It exposes an insecurity. Though I suppose that's not unique to the BYU fanbase. I think it's fair to say every fanbase is like this.
In the real world the best employees are sought after, and will also seek to level up their next opportunity. BYU can extend Mark Pope every off-season if they want to....it's a good thing they did in the past season. Sooner or later he's going to leave and when he does, it's likely because the team at BYU has had some great success.
I'll take that over the program sucking and being forced to fire him any day of the week.
When he leaves will it stink a little bit? Sure it will. But it's a part of life.
When that happens then next man up. I trust Holmoe to make the best hire with the resources he's given.
