My wife and I are in need of a new mattress and aren't quite sure what route to go. We don't want something firm and have typically gravitated towards soft/plush mattresses in the past. However, we wonder if something slightly firmer might be better for our backs. If we could find a medium-soft mattress that would be ideal, but those don't really seem to exist from what I've looked at thus far. We've looked at a couple of places locally but don't want to spend an arm a leg that they would charge so I'm considering the direct-to-consumer approach with purchasing online instead. The problem with that is you don't get a chance to "test" it out before buying and thus my looking for recommendations. Trying to keep it under $1500 and preferably closer to $1000 (or less).
