There's no reason to throw smokescreens though
Everybody ahead of them is basically locked in and nobody is trading up with or ahead of them.
The only potential smokescreen could be if they want Fields more than Wilson and they worry that if they broadcast their interest in Fields, it might lead to the Jets taking Fields and leaving them 'stuck' with Wilson. Otherwise, there's zero reason to be secretive - Shanahan even said as much.
