“That’s the kind of kid he is,” says Gary. “He likes to say, ‘I want to be humble and kind.’ His mom says, ‘That’s what he always has been and that’s what he always will be.’”
There are many things that make a top level athlete successful. Talent, Intelligence, Desire to be the best, Competitive nature, Team player, confidence, toughness, being coachable, etc. etc.
IMO, Zach not only has shown that he has many if not all of these attributes but IMO, its that comment that tells me more than anything he will be successful in the NFL and in New York. It's the attribute that can keep him wanting to continue to learn and improve, to not get too caught up in all the hoopla, to care more about making his team better overall so they can win rather than his own stats etc. And one that will help him stay grounded and not forget who he is and where he comes from. It's an awesome attribute and a tribute to not only him but his family. Awesome to see how he thanked and remembered the many people who helped him along the way.
This first year will be interesting and fun to watch. I expect Zach and the Jets to have success. It may take a year or two or three to really get to where they want to be, but will be fun to watch the progression, looks like they are putting the right pieces in place to become a winner.
