If you wanted to guard Steph Curry there are better defenders than Gobert. In other words he is probably not the most versatile defender in the NBA (he is still very versatile for an NBA center). A guy like Draymond Green can probably guard more positions effectively.

That being said, Gobert's defensive impact is greater than anyone else's, which to me is what matters most. He effects the game defensively like no one else in the league can. To me that is the best defender in the league. Would I rather have Draymond switch off on my guard over Gobert? Sure. But I would rather have Gobert anchoring my defense over Draymond. His rim protection is second to none in the NBA right now.

The good news is just like I get upset when people try to take shots at Jokic for MVP, Gobert will win the DPOY award again and deservedly so.
