The neighbors complained that they couldn’t build a shop like that because they didn’t like it blocking their view and there would be too much noise etc., and they cited some city or county regulation about having a commercial building in a residential area. In response they built a giant house on that property next to the shop to be compliant with regulations. They kept the house empty except to let family stay in it whenever they were in the area or during family reunions. They had enough money to do that kind of thing.
