Well have some bbq isn't a real thing, so probably #2.
It's a style of cooking, not a dish. So people who say that are probably talking about something ridiculous like burgers.

Not necessarily. In my ward we have several of us with smokers. We've had some good parties (typically for he adults)

"A" barbecue = burgers, hot dogs and sausages. "Some" barbecue = ribs, brisket, etc.
