It packs enough knockdown power to take down deer or elk, yet it's not overpowering like a 300 Win Mag or a 7mm. I also like it's flat trajectory vs. a 30-06. I've seen way too many deer carcasses with giant holes blown through them by 300 Win Mags. If you want anything left over to eat, a .270 is a better option.
