We didn't plan any travel for the first half of our fiscal year (April-September), and for the remainder of the fiscal year, we only planned half of what we did in 2019. For many industries, corporate travel will never be the same again. I think that a lot of companies have realized that you do not need to be physically present to contribute to meetings. A lot of training can also be conducted remotely, which will definitely cut down on travel. A lot of companies have also reconsidered the amount of personnel that actually need to be at an event or onsite to do work. I cannot begin to tell you how many times my company would hold marketing events, inside and outside of the US, where it seemed like every VP and many of the Directors in the company (completely outside of their function, and without legitimate business reasons) would be present. Our company President finally realized how pointless it was to have all of these people standing around doing nothing, and that many were simply using the company for subsidized vacations.
