I'm not sure what logic you are calling out. I'm saying the DPOY and arguably the best player on the team should be
playing a minimum of 35 minutes per game.
You can see the change of offensive philosophy when Favors is in vs. Rudy. They focus on the 3s while Rudy is in and drive to the rim when Favors is in.
Your All-Star, DPOY should be playing the type of minutes that the most important players on teams play...that is my logic.
