I use them all the time to figure out triangles and angles
Carpentry, building walls, making them square. Etc.
If you know how to use them...they become useful.
If you don't, they don't.
it is like knowing how to use a hammer instead of a rock. If all you ever used was a rock and thought that the hammer was too complicated, you would only ever use a rock.
