I used COS to measure the height of some of our fir trees in our yard. We have 2 dozen+ fir trees in our yard. I was
curious how tall they are. So I measured the distance of a point to the base of the tree. Then by estimating the angle from that point to the top of the tree I got the angle. By using COS I was able to get the estimate of the height. It came out to about 135 feet tall for the one tree I measured.
