need to dig a little deeper. There are some great athletes on the team right now. Look at the corners, and guys like Chris Jackson. Look at Wilcox, now in the NFL and others.
The ability to do this would only be enhanced if BYU was in a P5 conference, coupled with the fact BYU may also be able to get more of the high level LDS athletes if in a P5.
BYU is not that far off in football and its been said for years that the BYU starters can typically play with just about anybody. Its been depth thats been the issue, which Kalani and staff are working hard to build.
People seem to look at the past and base their projections on that vs looking at the future and benefits that would take place and the effects of those benefits if invited to a P5. It would raise the level of play, level of coaching, level of recruits, etc. etc. BYU has a great, no Fantastic sports program and football is right there.
Most P5's cannot really consistently compete with Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State, but BYU could not only compete with but beat many of the other P5's on a consistent basis. Where would BYU rank in each P5 conference? It wouldn't be at the bottom and IMO it would only go up if they were invited in. Until then Tom and the coaches are doing a fantastic job at elevating the program.
