A lot of Assistant coaches we think would make great head coaches, prefer the coaching and player development aspect of the game. At BYU an assistant coach is far more likely to be retained (job Security) if they are really good at this position. At other universities when a head coach gets fired, the entire staff gets fired. I think Ed just likes to coach and being a head coach is not his schtick.
