Hawaii was great for natural beauty and culture and playing in the ocean and snorkeling and the kids getting on a surfboard and seeing waterfalls and jungles.
Orlando was great for amusment parks and really captures the magic well for preteen kids
The canadian Rockies were great for riding on a glacier bus, riding on a boat to a secret island, spectacular hiking, gondolas, seeing wildlife and bears, going on an alpine slide and staying at the fantasyland hotel at the west edmonton mall and going to their huge indoor water park and going to the movie theater and the food court. It was an epic trip. Lake Louise and Lake Moraine are some of the most spectacular mountain lakes in the world. The town of Banff has some great restaurants. We stayed at a hotel that had a waterslide itself that the kids played in endlessly.
We are toying with the idea of a disney cruise that goes to some place spectacular--whether it be alaska or europe I dont know. But thats a once in a decade kind of thing that I'm thinking about. I think it would be incredible to fly into some major european city like london or paris with my kids and float around somewhere on a boat and see some other things. It will cost me, but I know i want to do something big for them before they head off to college and leave the nest. I've also toyed with the idea of taking them to southeast asia or peru but I think those might be trips I just do with my wife and leave them home.
