That's because they can charge that.

They're not pulling guys off of other jobs to go do your $600 job. Sorry. It's not worth it to them right now. $2400 for a small job is the point where they're willing to figure it out. Otherwise, keep looking. That's just the way it is right now. Take it or leave it.
