Since I have to tell all my patients I am moving back to Utah
I basically have 20+ small conversations about Utah each day.

Years ago, this would have gone something like this:

Me: “I’m moving to Utah”
Them: “Are you Mormon”

Now, it goes like this:
Me: “I’m moving to Utah”
Them: “Oh wow, I love Utah. It’s so beautiful out there. We’ve been to (fill in Salt Lake or Park City or Zion) and it was great. I have a (fill in friend or relative or business associate) who lives there and they love it. That is going to be amazing!”

I get maybe 1 Mormon comment per week. Some ask about family. But it’s amazing how the perceptions of Utah have changed. The secret is out and the stigmas are slowly going away.
