The University assumes a lot of risk with these programs and for some, it’s just not worth it.

This is only an issue because BYU is dropping affiliation, it’s not the reason.

Yes, for some. Teams that are officially extramurals are paid for by the school. Lax/Rugby/M Soccer/Raquetball

The extramural sports (hockey, rugby, lax, soccer) are not overseen by the AD.
