Honestly - this is what I do too.

Of course - I put most of my money in index funds when the market is good. I put most of my money in index funds when the market is bad. I put most of my money in index funds when the market is stagnant. I put most of my money in index funds when the market is oscillating. I just put most of my money in index funds. And generally speaking - it does pretty well over the long haul.

Buy Puts on the s&p 500. You can also buy bonds as rates would drop & bonds would likely spike.
