can be tough to penetrate a zone. an easy way to beat it is ...
...with quick, timely interior passing and movement in concert. Get the D shifting and then it's easier to penetrate.

For example, run a little false motion to the wing to get the defense to shift/react (can be as simple as pass to the wing, he pump fakes and passes back to the point then cuts through to other wing), have a guy in the high post and another in the dunker spot (short corner) to pull the post defender away from the middle of the paint, ball swings to the other side (who just cut through from opposite wing spot), high post does a pin down screen and dunker post cuts to ball side low post (using pin down screen) to receive pass from wing for an easy 2.

If the dunker spot guy is a wing who is a good 3 pt shooter you can also run that and have him continue to the corner for a possible open 3, if he pulls a defender you can then look at the high post big who set the pin down screen as he will have a possible one-on-one mismatch down low with the opposing wing he just screened.

If you overload one side of the floor a skip pass to the opposing wing often leads to an open catch and shoot 3 in rhythm (a high pct 3).

You can also have the wing hit the guy in the dunker spot and have the wing cut through to the opposite side (forcing the opposite side wing and the point to rotate to backfill the spot just vacated and the point's spot at the top), the guy in the dunker spot might have room to drive, can hit the high post rolling to the hoop, hit the backfilling point who just moved into the vacant wing position for an open catch and shoot 3, etc.

Bottom line is you need timely passing and guys moving in concert that forces the zone defenders to shift and adjust and you can pick a zone apart. If everyone stands around on the perimeter the offense gets stagnant and you get a lot of long shots and long misses. Long misses lead to long rebounds and fast break opportunities going the other way.
