BYU-I students today are more like BYU students from pre 1990.
They are less academic, probably actually follow sports, and have fewer parents who both went to university. That's good.
Often times people here lament that BYU kids don't go to football games etc. but who is surprised by that. Our entrance standards are for honor classes not average kids who follow a sports team.
