Net loss implies there was no gain to offset
We moved from a 5000 sq ft house with 4 car garage in Phoenix to a 1100 sq ft 1 car rental in Chicago.
6 months later bought a 3600 sq ft home.
Lived there for 6 years.
Just sold and moved back to AZ. Moved into our travel trailer where we’ve lived the last six months with our stuff in storage.
Moving across the country is a good excuse to purge.
Hard to put a value on things not in use, and with kids growing up.
Figure a few thousand in “losses” offset by not having to pay a few thousand to move it across the country.

The worst. Someone on here mentioned the idea of selling all of your possessions and donating the rest before moving
