It was fun and a beautiful area to explore, but we live in Vienna so the trip was not too arduous or expensive. Not sure it would be worth it if you had to pay for an international flight, rental car, etc…. Just depends on what you like to do on vacations.

If you have experience in Eastern Europe or have the right expectations you will have fun, but some people I know did not have a great time since they expected more Western Europe-type amenities (transportation, hotels, English speaking abilities, tourist info, etc..).
