being from a more moderate climate, my experience in the summer was you needed to get a tee time in advance to golf. Not thinking, we just went to the course to see if they have any times available (this was middle of the day).

The guy just looked at me like I was stupid and said, "It's over 105 degrees out there, and there is nobody else even on the course (you moron), I think we'll be able to squeeze you in."
