I lived in the Netherlands and they don't care a whit about customer service. If you need something from them, and they're out of the office for a month---well, that's just life. Perhaps frustrating for a customer, but why do we think everything has to revolve around the customer all the time anyway? In the Netherlands, they really value work/life balance above customer service. And why not? Families are important. I came to really appreciate their way of living and how they take time for themselves and their families.
The work will get done eventually, and everything will be just fine.
