To me, bad for BYU would be remaining in the same position now, but now with
an even smaller chance of getting into a Power conference (cause the Big 12 is no longer in existence and/or the AAC is no longer a viable option to move to). IOW, if the landscape around them changes to lock them out even further then that's bad for BYU.
