If you consider Oklahoma the midwest, I really liked OKC when I was stationed there.
it had a low cost of living, people were nice and friendly, pro-military. weather was good: it had all four seasons, but none were extreme (except May's tornado season when the weather actively tries to kill you).

it's kind of a boring place, but I'm kind of a boring guy, so it suits me. you've heard the old cliche "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there." Oklahoma is the exact opposite "It's a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there."
