This whole idea of a super league in college football remind me of European soccer, but I think there is one idea from Europe that would make this new face of college football super entertaining. I think that an SEC led super league of college football of 32 teams would actually be amazing for tv IF there was relegation. Imaginet the current SEC + Texas and OU, plus Notre Dame, Clemson, North Carolina, tOSU, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, USC, Oregon, Washington, plus another 6 teams. Probably some assortment of OkSt, Baylor, Michigan State, WVU, Utah, Cal, Stanford, UCLA, Virginia, Va Tech, UCF, etc.

If this could be pulled off, the second tier league for the AAC, and the leftovers of the PAC 12, BIG 12 and BIG 10 and ACC. Imagine that in some alternate universe, BYU and the U get left out of this super conference, but that you could play their way in while Mississippi State, Ol’ Miss, Vanderbilt and Tennessee play for last. While BYU, Utah, UCF, TCU, Boise St, and company play for the relegated teams position. This would be SSOOO fun! I think I’d be down for a 32 team league, the top 12 do their play off and the bottom 8 play for relegation. While the non super league teams have a tournament of their own playing for the one or two spots that are now open in the super league.

The probability is super low but if the goal is to maximize revenue tell me that this would give huge meaning to otherwise rather meaningless games of for example, UCLA and Baylor or even BYU vs Utah. It would give something for the lower league to play for, and then the lower league fans would also be invested in the happenings of the super league. Think this could be super fun.

What are your thoughts? I dont know if the leadership in the SEC would never vote for that because in all likelihood, Vandy and Tennessee and co. would be on the chopping block so fast, but it would be incredible.
