OU and Texas had a very outsize effect on the money being pulled in through TV.

While every conference has variability, few were as unbalanced as the Big 12. Pac had basically 4 teams driving revenue (USC, UCLA, Wash, Oregon). SEC had multiple teams as well (Alabama, FL, LSU, Georgia, A&M, Auburn), and same with the BIG (Ohio St., Mich, Wisc, Penn State, Nebraska). The ACC is probably the only comparable one, as the basketball schools are very poor TV draws (though they tend to earn big money in hoops).
