Major notable recruits include:
Taysom
Jamaal
Max Hall
Bushman
Khyiris Tonga
Kai Nacua
Cody Hoffman
But then I remember a few things. 1. He refused to even look into lots of very good players. He also refused to offer very good players who wanted to play for BYU (see the Fanaika family from PG. Big BYU fam, but Bronco left a sour taste in their mouths. Their youngest, Jonathan, just joined the D-Line at Utah). His “you should recruit BYU, rather than BYU recruiting you” mantra was one of the most frustrating things. 2. Kalani has gotten some pretty amazing players for us as well. I think some of this sentiment for Bronco is due to the early recruiting struggles under KS, which I attribute to Ty. Once Kalani got his feet under him, he started getting some awesome recruits. Notable recruits include:
Zach Wilson
The Nacua Brothers
Jacob Conover
Jaren Hall
Dax Milne (giving up a full ride to Weber to walk on at BYU)
Isaac Rex looks very promising
Khyiris & Bushman staying another year
Allgeier
Taysom to stay another year and not go to UVA
I’m definitely missing great players for both coaches, but the point of the post is that Kalani > Bronco, even though Bronco did great things for BYU. Kalani is willing to bend, though. Firing Ty, hiring Grimes, hiring Harvey, Promoting Roderick, etc. whereas with Bronco we largely had the same staff the entire time.
