Carnac Intervention Needed
"Elective" poor health choices should absolutely result in higher insurance
premiums.

I have no problem with raising rates on smokers. I would have no problem with raising them on people who don't meet certain health criteria.

Or if we want to use reverse psychology, raise everyone's rates and then give discounts to health-conscious people. Just like safe-driver discounts.

So, unvaccinated, smoker, obese--you should pay more into the risk pool. You are more likely to suffer from a preventable illness than your neighbor who is vaccinated, eats healthy, and works out a few times a week.

And I'll hold myself to that--I probably need to lose a good 15 pounds and it wouldn't hurt if my insurance premium helped motivate me to put in the extra work.
