It's amazing she's still alive, given what she's been through. She's not some random snowflake millennial who just can't cut it when she faces pressure. She's an extreme case in almost every way: an extremely talented athlete who endured extremely abusive situations under extreme pressure.
I don't think there are many broad lessons to learn from her situation because almost nothing about her life applies to any of our lives. If there is one broad lesson we can all learn, it's this: don't abuse girls. But we already knew that.
1. Sexually abused by Larry Nassar as a young girl, with most/all of her teammates getting abused right next to her.
"I remember being on the phone with my agent, and telling my mom and my agent that I slept all the time," Biles added during the Simone vs Herself episode. "Because sleeping was better than offing myself. It was my way to escape reality. Sleeping was like the closest thing to death for me at that point, so I just slept all the time."
2. Tortured by the Karolyi's at Karolyi ranch, where she had to steal food from the cafeteria because they were underfeeding her.
3. Her parents had her home schooled in order to train basically full time from a young age to be an elite athlete. Many people who were put in this situation as kids consider it abuse once they become adults.
