As I understand it, but don't quote me, he tried a minor cleanup after the
season and they were hopeful that that plus physical therapy would fix the issue. In June he ended up having to have major surgery on his ankle to repair the ligaments that simply did not heal right.
Hindsight is always 20/20, but it doesn't sound like the Saints have any heartburn about the decision. It just didn't work out.
