Not a clawback. Its a "I don't pay if someone else agrees to pay." the contract

is guaranteed so they have to pay him. But if they really don't like him and they dump him in three years another team may want to pick him up. If the team that picks him up pays him $3M hoping to see some brilliance then the Jets don't ALSO have to pay him $3M.
