LEDSFW Intervention Needed
Public denial is not necessarily the same cigar chomping in the cherrywood...
...chambers. Why lay any of your cards on the table? That just leads to division and outside wedging from financial interest that might benefit from an internal divorce among the remaining eight members. I believe the presidents are intelligent enough to know that TCU as an anchor in Texas and a lot of farm communities is not enough to generate long term interest.

They are not stupid. They are not going to air their discussion and plans, considerations and theories of what path to build for 2, 3, 4 seasons into the future out on the table of impatient fan expectations either.

They know sticking together means large temporary paydays. They know that adding teams does not have to dilute THEIR CUT during the transition, nor would they need to share legally awarded revenues, withdrawl fees, penalties and punitive damages if tg hey asked 1-4 teams to join in. It just does not seem to me to be imperative to do this right now. After spring football and March Madness when teams from the remaining eight members can point to 4-5 teams NOT NAMED OU OR TEXAS ranked in the MBB top 30 is when you make the play, first for BYU because you can get them without buyouts.

At 9 you are a traditional conference then you cherry-pick 1-3 of the best G5s and brin ggv tg hem in as a schedule and expiration of GOR transpires. When you must negotiate the next round of Rights, you will not get OU and Texas money, but you will get a butt load more than say the AAC or MWC, Sun-Belt, MAC or CUSA. So your overall GOR revenue drops to just $20 million. It's far better than $8 million and you have 4 full seasons to start getting much smarter about growing revenue in other ways and living GB more lean, possibly getting more state funds (just like Utah that still gets between facility maintenance and AD Grant's of nearly $25m a year that BYU does NOT get from Utah taxpayers). Time is a commodity that the eight should not waste. But making an immediate decision...its not necessary.

Check back in 8 months because that's when back room negotiations will start to leak out from behind currently closed doors. I would not even be surprised if since ESPBmN and FOX responded to inquires about renegotians a few months ago with, "Sure we'd love to reduce the current contract numbers," the various members have had to be thinking and privately discussing "what if scenarios" should OU and Texas leave.

I would not even be surprised if they didn't already know what tg get plan to do. It's just not wise to pull that trigger eight months before you really need to. And maybe BYU already knows what is/is not coming. Tom and Pres W may have already put verbals into not yet triggered MOCs. The most obvious and logical moves are outlined in this thread. Think about it.
