in 1945.. I showed up three years later... in ETB's travels at Sec of Agriculture in Eisenhower Admin/Q of 12 he stopped in Ames a few times (maybe just a couple of times)(he traveled alone.. no entourage) and we'd pick him up at Train Station.. according to family legend he was there checking up on the Ames Branch... early memory was singing "Puffer-billy" song to him as he was getting ready to leave...
