He has proven himself as a good recruiter and a very good coach. But I think his use of emotion (ie. using “bulletin board material”) as a motivator. I think this can be effective for a single game, but when uses frequently it results in highs sometimes, but lows other times. You just cannot sustain that kind of motivation week in and week out.

Some of that extra motivation is probably spent on BYU, but he seems to use motivation way too much during the course of the season.
