coming out of China. When we went looking for a new dishwasher this summer, we wanted a white dishwasher to match our current stove/sink/refrigerator. However, EVERYBODY was out of white and it was explained to me that it was due to the chip shortage. In addition, I was also told that most manufacturers right now because they have had to reduce the number of units they are producing due to chip shortages, have all but eliminated the manufacturing of white appliances as they aren't their most popular items and have instead focused on a much narrower subset of appliances.

Thankfully, the appliance we ended up going (which was a GE brand) with was in stock (otherwise we wouldn't have gone for it I guess) and was on a pretty good sale price when we purchased it.
