The core Yewt fans are a silent, polite group of historical LDS families. They have historical ties to the school and see what is going on but will never say anything because they are trying to set an example of being above the fray and also because they don't want to get attacked by the scary elements within their own base.

The vocal Yewt fans who make most of the noise are rabid haters of the Church. They use BYU as a visible proxy target and the UofU as a cover from which to launch attacks of hate and loathing at the Church as directly as possible.

Then you have your Todds. LDS and non-LDS people who are either trying to ingratiate themselves with the vocal Yewt fans or who want to be cool or edgy by having one foot in the sewer.

Quite the motley crew. But one thing is pretty consistent with all groups. They usually seem to know more about BYU than their own team.
