Somebody mentioned he still has a redshirt available, so he might be looking to preserve his redshirt so that he can get one more crack at it next season on a different team.

He seemed to have zero chemistry with his teammates, so he was benched and on a team where he wasn’t getting along with anybody. Perhaps he decided he was just done with football.
