numerous scent glands (cheeks, tarsals, back) and during the rut they stink like mad.
But if the meat is clean and cooled down quick it's great stuff. This is true of everything, if I killed a beef cow on a hot September day then drove around on a dusty road with it in the back of my truck it won't taste real great.
The does don't stink much at all - I've killed a bunch of does in alfalfa fields. They're fat, healthy, and taste amazing.
