starters have had nagging injuries to start the season.
Shaq Bond was expected to be a bright spot in the secondary, but hasn't been as good as previous years. We also just had one of our starting safeties (and probably our second best DB) get injured and likely out for the season.
Rice is clearly the shining star. We have one other LB that is a senior and think we should be playing younger players over him. I think if we went Rice and Vongphachanh, instead of Rice and Metzenheimer, as our core LB that we would have a much better defense.
I highly suspect that if we are going to win a game like BYU, it will be won via shootout, not by stopping anyone defensively.
