Obviously, BYU has their own set of recruiting requirements that have and always will limit them in an all-out pursuit of "top recruits." Bronco compensated by taking the approach of going after grit and hard work. Kalani (and I would add Lamb in here as a big influence) goes after specific body types as their main objective and seem to care little for recruiting rankings. Obviously, there's some overlap as top recruits are also top athletes, but you do see BYU continue to "lose ground" in the recruiting game at the same time they appear to be increasing in on-field talent and performance.
