A few years back when we beat #5 Wisconsin, the first thought across the country was “wow, Wisconsin must not have been as elite as we thought.” When you aren’t a blue blood, confirmation bias rumps rampant against the underdogs. People will always look for ways to confirm that the elite team just wasn’t that good, instead of looking for ways to see if the underdog (BYU in this case) is actually good.
At the end of the day, there are so many variables going into who actually wins a football game that no computer can accurately predict the outcome every time.
There’s really only one thing that matters and that BYU has control over: just keep winning football games! Go Cougs!!
