Often what the coach tells the media and fans isn’t the same as he tells the team (coach speak). Don’t read too much into coachspeak. It seems like Kalani has been extra enthusiastic with fan interaction recently, especially pregame, trying to build up energy of the student section. I wouldn’t say that means he isn’t serious about the need for the team to improve.
Also, sometimes the players need a positive message from the head coach even despite a loss, sometimes they need a humbling message even despite a win, as was the case last night.
