Landlines are potentially more useful in emergency situations when everyone
else is tying up cell service, or at least that is what I hear. In my opinion, though, they are very overpriced for what they offer.

Us too. Immediate, accurate location if our kids or a babysitter call 911. And no dead battery to prevent the call.
