Not only did that analysis put Boise St behind Rice, but they also put Rice ahead of Cincy, UCF and Houston.
By their metrics, the Big 12 should have invited BYU, Rice, Cincy and Temple. As BYU fans, we're very happy that the Big 12 dismissed these analytics as terrible and took UCF/Houston over Rice/Temple.
It's not so much their scoring that is off, as much as their weighting. They put a lot of weight on things that don't necessarily drive conference expansion (especially in the Big 12 where academics carry - by far - the least weight compared to other P5 conferences)
