Also, for the last 15 years the avg annual deaths from hurricanes and tornadoes combined is 134. By comparison, 38,000
die in car crashes every year. That's about 284x the risk of being killed in a hurricane. Yes, property damage is probably a larger concern since you can often hide from a tornado and get out of town before a hurricane. Still a very small risk overall.
